KCET Fall Cinema Series

Just as one KCET Cinema Series ends another is beginning. KCET's seasonal Cinema Series is shifting its location from Santa Monica to North Hollywood. The Summer and Fall series are held at the Aero theatre in Santa Monica while Fall and Spring series will be held at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in North Hollywood on Tuesday evenings. Just like the series over on the Westside of Los Angeles, each screening during the late fall series will feature eight new major films prior to their theatrical release. Not only that but each screening includes a lively Q&A moderated by film critic Pete Hammond. Take a look at what's in store so far for the Fall Cinema Series that runs October 25th through December 13th as well as all the details on how to attend below...

October 25th - "The Artist"
The film is by French director Michel Hazanavicius, a charming story set in Hollywood's silent movie era. The central characters are a fading silent film movie star played by Jean Dujardin, who recently won Best Actor at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival for his role, and the beautiful rising starlet of the new talkies portrayed by actress Berenice Bejo. The film is reminiscent of the real love affair of John Gilbert and Greta Garbo. The film itself is silent, shot in black & white and on location in Los Angeles. Q&A immediately follows with stars, Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo, and director Michel Hazanavicius.

November 1st - "The Descendants"
From the director of the smash-hit "Sideways" and "About Schmidt," Alexander Payne directs this touching drama starring Academy Award winning actor George Clooney as the aristocratic land baron Matt King who learns that his wife will never recover from the coma she is in from a sudden boating accident. Stars of the film include: Michelle Williams, Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, and Emma Watson. Q&A immediately follows with TBD.
