Shooting The Rum Diary

Lensing has finally begun on the long awaited Hunter S. Thompson novel, "The Rum Diary." Johnny Depp has long talked about making another Thompson book after making Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, but it never seemed it would actually happen. That day has finally came last week on March 25th. I couldn't be more happy that the film is finally getting made and with the talented cast of actors, the film should be a great adaptation.

The film stars Johnny Depp, joined by Aaron Eckhart, Amber Heard, Michael Rispoli, Richard Jenkins and Giovanni Ribisi. Bruce Robinson is directing and also previously wrote the screenplay. The entire film is lensing in Puerto Rico.

The official synopsis for the film is: Paul Kemp is a freelance journalist who finds himself at a critical turning point in his life while writing for a run-down newspaper in the Caribbean. Paul is challenged on many levels as he tries to carve out a more secure niche for himself amidst a group of lost souls all bent on self-destruction.

What say you? Are you excited for The Rum Diary? Are you a Thompson fan? Strikeback...
