What's Next for 007

Now that Quantum of Solace has released and has been doing quite well throughout the world at the box office, we can begin speculating what will come next from the Daniel Craig editions of 007 James Bond. Will the third film Craig does as Bond be a second direct sequel of Casino Royale? Where exactly will the story go? Will new characters be introduced? Will Bond continue to sulk over the loss of Vesper? Well Bond himself had some answers to those questions exactly.

Daniel Craig first and foremost told Collider that he is done with Vesper storyline. When asked if he would like to continue the storyline from the last two films, Craig said, “No fucking way. I’m done with that story!" Craig added in typical Bond sarcasm, "I want to lie on a beach for the first half an hour of the next movie drinking a cocktail.” Thank god! One great thing about 007 films is each one has been independant of the others, until Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.

Craig clearly joking did give a few hints to where he'd like to see the next 007 film develop. Craig said, “We’ve finished this story as far as I’m concerned. We’ve got a great set of bad guys. There is an organization that we can use whenever we want to. The relationship between Bond and M is secure and Felix is secure. Let’s try and find where Moneypenny came from and where Q comes from. Let’s do all that and have some fun with it.” One great thing about revamping the Bond series with Craig is it has allowed the production team to re-invent and re-introduce characters and themes of the past films. With the last two films I have missed the usual banter between Money Penny and James Bond, furthermore the scenes with Q have always been fun and engaging and introducing his character could really be a joy on screen.

So when will we see the next film? Daniel Craig wasn't so sure how quickly the next film would develop. Craig did not rule out the possibility of shooting the next film late next year, that is a very slim chance. "We don’t know when we’re going to do the next Bond. Nobody’s thinking about it at the moment. We’re giving it a rest for the moment. If I can squeeze something in next year I will…but I haven’t figured out what that’ll be yet. But nothing in the cold," Craig commented.

So more Bond to come...but it will most likely be awhile. Thoughts on Craig's ideas for Bond? Do you want to see a third Vesper vengance film or start fresh? Did you like Quantum of Solace? Strikeback...
