Sin City 2 Shooting in April?

Frank Miller still has "The Spirit" to release this month, but that hasn't stopped him from talking about his upcoming projects. The creator/writer/director of Sin City says that the sequel is written and could begin shooting as early as April.

Frank Miller at a press junket for The Spirit told IGN, "Sin City 2 is written! It's mainly a matter of working out the details of the production. I'm hoping to do it with Robert Rodriguez again in the same circumstances that we did the first one, and we could be shooting as soon as April."

The entire Sin City catalog is a great read and I am very anxieous to see more chapters unfold on screen. Nothing could be better than having both Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller back for the sequel. What is troublesome is Miller's comments about "working out the production details." Sin City released in 2005 and has been talked of heavily since then, but nothing substanial has come of any of it. Let's hope this time the ball gets moving quickly.

The magnitude of Sin City's cast could pose as another problem for getting shooting date for April. Frank Miller has said that the next Sin City film will be based off A Dame to Kill For, a prequel to The Hard Good Bye which the first film was primarily based on. Meaning Marv is alive and Dwight would also be returning. Gail is also posed to return and the lovely Rosario Dawson told IESB that she would return for the role. Clive Owen and Mickey Rourke however, could stall production from moving ahead in April.

Mickey Rourke, who is hot of his success from Darren Aronofsky's "The Wrestler" recently told Superhero Hype he wasn't to keen on returning to the role. "No, I'm not interested in that right now. That's not a reality right now. It's pissing in the wind," Rourke admitted. "There's different factions going different directions there. I don't know. That's three hours of make up and I'm claustrophobic, so I'm going to have to work something out." So, it appears landing Rourke may take a lot of effort, especially if he takes home an Oscar. To add further confusion, Rourke a few days before told MTV something completely different. “Frank’s ready,” Rourke told MTV's Kurt Loder. “And I’m ready, too.” Hmmm...Rourke has always been a bit looney, so take his comments for what they are...a big flip-flop!

Sin City 2 is coming or is it? Time will tell. What are your thoughts on all of this Sin City news? Should Rourke return? Will The Wrestler actually return Rourke to A-list status? Will Frank Miller even get the go-ahead on the sequel if The Spirit bombs? Strikeback...
