Abrams USS Enterprise Revealed!

Entertainment Weekly has been given the first look at the USS Enterprise in JJ Abrams upcoming Star Trek film. The image definately envokes the original Enterprise and not much seems to have changed. Abrams told EW that it was neccessary to keep the original feel and look to the infamous starship. "If you're going to do Star Trek there are many things you cannot change. The Enterprise is a visual touchstone for so many people. So if you're going to do the Enterprise, it better look like the Enterprise, because otherwise, what are you doing?" Abrams also talked about his first memories of the USS Enterprise and it's lengthy reveal in the original Star Trek Motion Picture. "The coolest thing about it—maybe the coolest thing in the movie—was when you flew around the ship, you could see all the different panels that made up the ship. It was the first time I had ever seen that level of attention, that love of detail, given to the tangible, practical reality of the ship." So take a gander for yourself below at the USS Enterprise in the upcoming JJ Abrams Star Trek. The first full length trailer is said to be attached to Quantum of Solace releasing this friday. The trailer will be released online on the following monday.

Thoughts on the new USS Enterprise? Does it look all that different? Would you have rathered a whole new design to Enterprise? Or is Abrams right that the Enterprise had to remain same in concept? Strikeback...
